A few years ago I really wanted to learn an unconventional instrument.
And I found an instrument called a ‘Hang Drum’. (pronounced ‘hung’) It’s really a beautiful instrument, unfortunately they cost thousands of dollars.
I’d still totally want to learn to play one some day.
holy crap that is rad. why are they so expensive? is it what they’re made out of or something? I wanna research it because wow this is super.
Mostly because only two people make them in a small workshop in Berne, Switzerland.
WOW!! This is beautiful!!
The Puzzle - Part 2 (Original Story by me)
"A child, Your Majesty?" I stated the obvious. Truthfully, I did not expect an undeveloped human spirit to be the one He was waiting for. But I remember how His Majesty loves children when He became Human, so far as to say:
“Don’t push these children away. Don’t ever get between them and Me. These children are at the very center of life in the kingdom. Mark this: Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.”
"Yes. This is Saira. Saira, this is Gabriel. He is one of my archangels." His Majesty beamed, smiling ear to ear. Saira nods and chirped a confident, "Hello!" before letting go and did a little well-practiced curtsy.
I smiled at her innocence and bowed down in a swift, graceful motion, “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Miss Saira.”
She giggled, ran back to His Majesty, who took her hand and claimed “Well, I think it’s time for our quality time. Now if you’ll excuse us, Gabriel…”.
"Of course, Your Majesty." Once again I bowed to His Majesty, and a little lower to Saira, who giggled and replied in an even lower curtsy.
And as they walked hand in hand towards the Throne Room, I flew away, leaving them to their quality time.
Not long after that I walked into the Throne Room to find them sitting on the floor in front of the Throne. A big board of unfinished puzzle was laid out in front of them. His Majesty noticed my arrival and puts a finger to His lips.
Acknowledging the motion, I nodded and flew silently to the side of the throne, sitting quietly and observing the little girl who seemed so engrossed at the big pile of puzzle pieces. His Majesty started putting together the puzzle while Saira watched, brows knitted together in confusion.
Now the edges are done, His Majesty started working on the inner pieces. Swiftly but gently He set the pieces one by one, making no mistake whatsoever in placing them.
Then finally He took a puzzle piece, handing it to Saira, “Come, child. Take this piece and I will tell you where to put it.”
Saira jumped to her feet and took the piece, looking eagerly to put it to the jigsaw board, His Majesty guided her to the right place.
"Five steps to the right, Now step forward once.., careful… just a tiny step… Now do you see that yellow piece? Go left 2 pieces and put it there… Wait! You’re going 1 piece too much! Go one piece to the right! There you go… Put it there!" He beamed, nodding or shaking His head the whole time, ended by nodding enthusiastically while Saira squealed in delight over finding the right place for the puzzle piece. This goes on for some time, until suddenly Saira didn’t take the piece from His Majesty’s Hand.
"Saira? Don’t you want to continue playing?" His Majesty asked, a note of concern easily distinguishable in His voice.
"I do, Papa. But I want to choose my own piece." she smiled, taking a piece from the pile.
God smiled back and said, “Oh Saira, it’s a middle piece. You see, we have to create the outer parts first as the foundation, then we will be able to put the middle pieces later..”. He smiled gently and took the piece away from Saira’s hand.
Saira grinned and said “Okay. I’ll take another piece then.” while taking another piece from the pile.
"Saira, it’s another middle piece, see? We can’t put this on the board now. Here.. Let Me choose a piece for you.", His Majesty proceeded to take the piece away. But out of the blue Saira held on tight to the puzzle piece she had chosen.
"No! I want this piece, Papa! See? This one is much prettier. It is pink and it has hearts on it. The ones You gave me are always plain gold. I want this one.." she stated, waddling off to the board’s side and tried to place it.
Ah, humans.. Sometimes they are so stubborn. When His Majesty said “No” or “Wait”, it was not based on His whim. He said so for a reason, and it will always be for their own good. Because when His majesty plans a human life, He always planned it in detail, from the start to the end, and all of them are always a great plan, never a dreadful or flawed design. But humans… they thought they knew better, trying to ‘help’ God on making their life ‘better’ or ‘speed up’ the process they have to go through. I cannot understand why His Majesty loved then so much. If I am God, I would just ‘delete’ them from existence and ‘re-do’ all my work once more, just like His Majesty did on Noah’s time period. It would be much easier and not time-consuming…
Well… That’s the beauty of His Majesty’s love… No one can comprehend it. Sometimes I find myself asking silently; Who are humans that You are mindful of them? Yet… He does…. And always love them…
"It’s amazing how You love them, Your Majesty…" I whispered under my breath and watching how His Majesty would react.
"Saira, that’s not the right place." He warned firmly, but a hint of gentleness are evident in His Majesty’s voice. Saira *knew* that it was true; That it was not the right place for the piece she had been holding to, that it’s not the right time for her to play this particular piece. But she kept on pushing the piece onto the board, perhaps hoping that it would fit miraculously. And unexpectedly, it fits!!
Saira smiled widely, seemed content on the piece she just put on the board and skips back to the pile.
I glanced back to His Majesty. It is obvious that a trace of sorrow is on His Majesty’s countenance. He gazed back at me and gave me a sad smile, getting back to the game when Saira comes back the board.
"I found another pink heart piece!" Saira jumps up and down choosing another place for the piece. Another incorrect place, another incorrect time.
His Majesty took hold of Saira’s outstretched hand tenderly and spoke, “Child, if you’re patient, we will put the pieces you want in their places, in their right time.”
But apparently Saira had another thought. “This will make it more beautiful, Papa! Trust me!” she reasoned stubbornly while forcefully pushing the piece to the wrong place.
See what I mean? Some humans do think that they know better than God Himself.. And sometimes humans do what they think will make them happy without asking what He thinks and just do it. It probably made them happy for the time being, but there’s always a side effect waiting around the corner.
Then suddenly a yelp is heard from the little girl. The arranged pieces on the board could not withstand the pressure from Saira’s hands. With a loud “POP!”, the board flipped over, the pieces flew off everywhere, ruining the entire puzzle.
The little girl freezes, staring down at the board, apparently surprised at what she had done. And slowly her little shoulders shook. Gently at first, then it became very clear that she was crying.
'Uh-Oh…' I thought, covering my ears and getting ready for what will come next…
